I thought I’d take some time this morning to talk a bit about what’s been going on with me personally. These past few months I’ve been dealing with fatigue, weight gain (no matter how little I eat), insomnia, thyroid, and hormone imbalances. My doc feels that the anesthesia from my back to back hand surgeries may be a big culprit. Anesthesia wreaks havoc on gut health, and if your gut is out of whack, your whole body is out of whack.

Back in 2018, I was suffering from some similar ailments, and the first thing my doc did was change my diet. He taught me that food is the best medicine, and healing the gut and body all begins with food. He put me on something similar to a Whole30 eating plan, so… that’s what I’ll be doing again.

I’ll be starting in May so that I have time to make up my recipe and meal plans. I’m the type of person that 100% believes “Failing to plan, is planning to fail”. As well, I need time to mentally prepare myself. I mean 30 days without cheese to me will feel like a lifetime…LOL! So I need to get my head totally in the game.

If you’re not familiar with the Whole30 way of eating it’s basically an elimination diet that helps to reset your body. It’s all about fresh whole foods such as meat, seafood, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds herbs.

The Don’ts: added sugar or artificial sweeteners, alcohol, grains, legumes (including peanuts), dairy, or processed foods. One of the don’ts of doing a Whole30, but not my doc is recreating treats. He and I both believe that you should make this type of plan doable. So I do plan on creating delicious meals as well as a few treats and mocktails!
